Tue 08.07.2008

Mel Sutton interviews Ibiza virgin Fred Deakin during Pioneer’s pool party at the 5* Fenicia Prestige hotel. After recently mixing his ‘Nu Balearica’ compilation, Fred was at IMS to participate in a panel (called Dance, Dance: The Visual Revolution/How To Enhance Your DJ Image) and to DJ alongside Tom Middleton, Sarah Main and Mark Brown at Pioneer’s party. DJ/designer Fred is not only one half of the experimental band Lemon Jelly alongside Nick Franglen, but also a director of the progressive design company Airside. Founded by Radio 1’s Pete Tong, along with Ben Turner, Danny Whittle, Mark Netto, Simeon Friend and Steve Hulme, the inaugural IMS took place in Ibiza, with locations including the Fenicia Prestige hotel, Pikes hotel, Pacha, Space and the new Ibiza Rocks Hotel.
