Interview: Cassius’ Philippe Zdar at Yalta Club, Sofia, Bulgaria

Fri 27.03.2009

Philippe 'Zdar' Cerboneschi, one half of the chart-busting French house duo Cassius alongside Hubert 'Boombass' Blanc-Francard, talks to DJsounds from Yalta Club in Sofia, Bulgaria. In this clip Zdar discusses the French music scene, his work with Boombass and his DJ set-up. He also speaks out about leaving their record label and their plans to record a new Cassius album this year. From early productions as La Funk Mob for Mo’ Wax, to such storming singles as ‘Cassius 99’, ‘The Sound of Violence’ and ‘Toop Toop’, to their albums 1999, Au Rêve and 15 Again, the guys have always put a twist on the French touch and have collaborated with some heavyweight artists, like Pharrell Williams. However, as Zdar suggests in his interview, the fourth Cassius album will probably see a return to their roots and a more club-orientated sound. Words: LRC
