Originally from London, then based in Marseille, now setting up shop in Barcelona, versatile digital art innovator VJ Dubassy (aka Dan Talson) shows off his wild and wacky side in this clip. Check it out. Dubassy cut his own funky video fusing footage that DJsounds shot during Miami WMC with new and old material from his studio (beamed to us via his collection of vintage TV sets!) in Barcelona. Voted No. 7 in DJ mag’s Top 20 VJs of 2007, Dubassy has spent the last seven years creating his own distinctive visuals for various uses, whether they’re to be sold by Getty Images or used in live sets as he VJs around the globe. In the UK, he’s at played clubs such as Cargo, Koko and Ministry of Sound and festivals like Glastonbury, the Big Chill, and Global Gathering. Elsewhere he’s performed at the Avit festival in Paris, Switzerland’s Elektro-lux in Lucerne, MTV events in Barcelona and Elevate super-club in Delhi. In February this year Dubassy VJed at Fabric for the Breakspoll awards party and he continues to return to London for Hospital Records drum & bass gigs at Heaven, among other projects. In Miami Dubassy was booked to perform at several gigs. He started off by flexing his skills at the Remix Hotel, at The National, and, after a busy week, wound things up on the Sunday with VJ Shakinda at Miambient at The Standard Spa Hotel. Providing a more relaxed ambience to what abounds all around, the free visual music event Miambient takes place every year during WMC – but doesn’t always feature VJ Dubassy in his hotel bath robe!
